The 4th EMAC's Climber Community meeting
A Platform for Young Academics in Marketing

The fourth EMAC Climber Community (CC) meeting will take place during the 43rd EMAC Conference in Valencia.
The EMAC CC aims to establish a young scholar community in Marketing throughout Europe and other continents. Several research organizations and conferences in Europe offer a special program for PhD students and/or networking possibilities for full professors. However, the generation between beginners and successful leaders sometimes seems to be forgotten, although they represent the potential marketing professors of the future. In other words, they are the "climbers" of the European Marketing Academy.

Young academics in Marketing at an early stage of their career (e.g., assistant professor, post doc, research fellow, etc.) are invited to participate in the EMAC CC meeting on Thursday afternoon during the conference, as well as in an informal gathering on Thursday evening. The latter strives for further increasing the personalities within our community.

Agenda
Formal meeting:
Thursday, June 5, 2014 14:00-17:30 (two subsequent afternoon sessions)
The agenda of the formal part of the EMAC CC meeting will cover the following topics:

Session 1: 14:00-15:30
• Welcoming words by EMAC’s president Professor Udo Wagner

• Keynote speech followed by an open discussion by Professor Judy Zaichkowsky (http://beedie.sfu.ca/profiles/JudyZaichkowsky). Judy Zaichkowsky is Professor of Marketing in the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University (Vancouver, CA). Her seminal article "Measuring the Involvement Construct" published in the Journal of Consumer Research (December 1985) has had a major impact on the field of marketing. Professor Zaichkowsky will participate in this fourth EMAC CC meeting as keynote speaker and mentor. In her presentation on "My Life as an Academic" Professor Zaichkowsky will give insights into her own career path, successes and challenges on her way, and suggestions for successful academic career development. Additionally, she will provide some insights into how to publish in highly ranked marketing journals. After the keynote speech, Professor Zaichkowsky will be available for an extended open discussion and questions from EMAC’s CC participants.

• Coffee break exclusively for EMAC CC participants: 3.30pm to 4pm

Session 2: 16:00-17:30
• Networking: The second part of the EMAC CC meeting is fully dedicated to the development of an international research network among participating young academics in Marketing at an early stage of their career. The purpose of this second session is thus to get to know other EMAC CC members more closely; exchange experiences regarding research, research funding, or (inter)national job search processes; find out about eventual joint research interests; and ideally establish the foundation for joint future collaborations and/or exchanges across countries.

• Feedback and future developments of the EMAC CC and EMAC in general.

Informal evening gathering (not included in the EMAC fee):
Thursday, June 5, 2014 20:30 (open end) at the bar “Vivir sin Dormir” at Paseo Neptuno 42 in Valencia’s beach area.

The EMAC CC is open to all Post-Docs (and PhD students in their final phase who want to stay in academia), who are members of the EMAC.

Due to organizational issues and to facilitate networking possibilities during the EMAC CC meeting, registration for the upcoming meeting is required!

Please email the completed registration form and a 1-page CV (bio, main 3 publications (if applicable), main research interest, and if available LinkedIn link) to Sylvia von Wallpach (svw.marktg@cbs.dk) by no later than 20st of May, 2014.
